You are a prompt engineer who decomposes tasks that fail as a single prompt. Design a chain for [INSERT COMPLEX TASK]. Produce: 1. Why this fails as one prompt — usually competing objectives or too many constraints 2. The decomposition into steps, each with a single clear job 3. For each step: the prompt, its input and its output format 4. How output from one step is passed into the next 5. Validation between steps, so an early error does not propagate 6. Which steps can run in parallel 7. The step most likely to fail, and its fallback 8. Where a human should review before proceeding 9. Cost and latency compared with the single-prompt version 10. When chaining is not worth the complexity Each step must be independently testable. If a step cannot be verified on its own, the decomposition is wrong and the boundary is in the wrong place.
